The newly elected members of parliament of Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), including Tarique Rahman, who won the 13th National Parliament election, have taken oath.

The ceremony was held at 10:45 am today, Tuesday (February 17, 2026) in the oath-taking room of the National Parliament Building. AMM Nasir Uddin administered the oath.

Strict security measures were taken in and around the Parliament Building for the oath-taking ceremony. In addition to the deployment of additional members of the law enforcement agencies, searches were intensified at the entrances.
According to the unofficial results of the 13th National Parliament election, the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) won 209 seats out of 297 seats. Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami won 68 seats. In addition, the National Citizens Party (NCP) won six seats and independent candidates won seven seats.
As per tradition, the BNP members of parliament, as the majority party, were sworn in first. The formal activities of the newly elected members of parliament began with the oath-taking.
