Tarique Rahman expresses concern over Shahjalal Airport fire

Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman has expressed deep concern over the fire incident at the cargo complex of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka.

In a statement on Saturday (October 18, 2025), he said, “I am deeply concerned about the fire incident at the airport’s cargo complex. My condolences and prayers go out to all those affected, and I sincerely hope everyone is safe.”

Tarique Rahman expressed gratitude to the fire service, armed forces and all the rescue workers involved for bravely taking part in quickly bringing the fire under control. He said, “Their quick action and bravery reflect a true commitment to public service.”

He also said that the incidents of fire have increased at an alarming rate in recent times. He demanded a full and transparent investigation into the series of accidents, including the fire at a factory in the Chittagong Export Processing Zone (EPZ) and the fire at a garment factory in Mirpur.

Tarique Rahman stressed, “A full and transparent investigation is essential to uncover the real causes of these incidents and strengthen public safety in the future.”
