Desk Report:
Foreign Minister Dr. Khalilur Rahman has said that a sustainable and effective solution to the Rohingya crisis lies in Rakhine State. In this regard, the international community should not be limited to humanitarian assistance alone but should play a more active and fruitful role in creating a conducive environment for the safe, dignified and voluntary repatriation of the Rohingya.
The Foreign Minister said these things while delivering his speech as a panelist at the session titled ‘Global Refugee Protection System in the Face of Displacement Crisis’ of the ongoing Antalya Diplomacy Forum 2026 in Turkey on Friday (April 17, 2026).
The Foreign Minister expressed deep concern over the decline in international donor support for the Rohingya. In this context, he called for increased funding, ensuring stability and security in Rakhine, and taking urgent steps to protect human rights.
He said that after assuming office as Foreign Minister, both the Myanmar government and the Arakan Army have welcomed him.
The Foreign Minister said the Rohingya crisis is a solvable problem—but it requires a coordinated global initiative and sustained international cooperation.
