Diplomatic Desk:
Bangladesh’s Acting Foreign Minister, Humayun Kabir, has called for renewed, effective, and coordinated action to address the multifaceted challenges confronting Commonwealth member states.
He made this call on Monday (November 2, 2026) while speaking during the retreat session of the Commonwealth Foreign Ministers’ Meeting (CFAMM)—a pre-CHOGM event—held at the American University of Antigua (AUA) in St. John’s, the capital of Antigua and Barbuda.
In his remarks, Humayun Kabir stated that, given the current complex global landscape, Commonwealth nations must come together to tackle a range of challenges, including those related to peace and security, climate resilience, energy and food security, and the responsible use of emerging technologies.
He emphasized the need for the effective implementation of the ‘Loss and Damage’ fund to address the impacts of climate change, and the development of an integrated framework to boost investment and financing among Commonwealth countries.
Furthermore, the Acting Foreign Minister sought the collective support of the international community and Commonwealth member states to ensure the safe, voluntary, and dignified repatriation of the Rohingya people to Myanmar.
