Sushila Karki sworn in as Nepal’s Prime Minister

Former Chief Justice of Nepal Sushila Karki was sworn in as the country’s Prime Minister on Friday.

Nepal’s first female Chief Justice, 73-year-old Karki, took the oath before President Ram Chandra Poudel, saying, “I, Sushila Karki, take the oath in the name of the country and the people to discharge my duties as Prime Minister.”

After a small ceremony at the Presidential Palace attended by diplomats and some former leaders, Poudel congratulated Karki.

Parliament was later dissolved and elections were set for March 5, 2026.
