Bangladesh Submarine Cable Company’s all-type internet prices are decreasing by 10 percent.
This decision was taken at the company’s board meeting on Sunday (March 23, 2025). As a result, the companies’ costs will be reduced in both mobile internet and broadband services.
Faiz Ahmed Tayyab, Special Assistant to the Chief Advisor on Postal, Telecommunication and Information Technology, said that the government is working to reduce the price of the internet. Several initiatives have been taken to ensure that people get internet at an affordable price. Reducing prices at the wholesale level is one of them. As a result of this decision, prices for all bandwidths at the international gateway level of the internet will be reduced by 10 percent. In addition, DWDM facilities are to be provided to mobile companies at the backbone level. As a result, the cost of transmission for telecom companies will be reduced by 39 percent.
The special assistant to the chief advisor said, ‘Discussions have already been held with telecom operators on this issue. Operators are expected to reduce the price of internet at the consumer level by up to 10 percent.’
Special Assistant on Information Technology Faiz Ahmed also said that Bangladesh will be connected to the third submarine cable, SIMU-6, by the middle of next year.
