Students block road in Farmgate, stop traffic

Students have blocked a road at the Farmgate intersection in the capital, demanding justice for those involved in the murder of Higher Secondary student Sakibul Hasan Rana in a clash between two groups of Chhatra Dal at Tejgaon College hostel.

On Monday (January 4), Tejgaon College students started blocking the road in the Farmgate area around 10 am. This has completely stopped traffic on the roads around Farmgate. As a result, severe traffic jams have been created in this important area. Commuters have been suffering.

A large number of law enforcement officers have been deployed in the Farmgate area to control the situation. Law enforcement officials said that they are trying to withdraw the blockade peacefully after discussing with the students.

It is worth noting that on the night of December 6, Sakibul Hasan Rana (18), a second-year student of the Science Department of Higher Secondary for the 2024-25 academic year, was injured in a clash between two groups of Chhatra Dal at Tejgaon College hostel. He died while undergoing treatment on Wednesday, four days after the incident.
