State Minister Shama Obaed reiterated Bangladesh Government’s zero-tolerance policy against illegal migration

Jamil Haji Ismail Al Balushi, Ambassador of the Sultanate of Oman to Bangladesh, paid a courtesy call on Shama Obaed Islam, State Minister for Foreign Affairs, at her office on Sunday (10 May 2026).

During the meeting, the State Minister lauded the constructive role of the Omani leadership in promoting peace and stability in the Middle East region.

The Omani Ambassador conveyed his Government’s felicitations to the BNP-led Government of Bangladesh on its victory in the 13th Parliamentary Election.

The two sides discussed ways to further strengthen bilateral relations and expand cooperation in areas such as economy, trade, investment, culture, and sports.

While appreciating the Government of Oman for hosting a large Bangladeshi community in the Sultanate, the State Minister reiterated Bangladesh Government’s zero-tolerance policy against illegal migration. She also emphasized Bangladesh’s priority to send skilled and semi-skilled workers abroad so that they can contribute effectively to the economies of both the host countries and Bangladesh.
