Prime Minister Tarique Rahman formally inaugurated the ‘Navy and Air Force Election Board 2026’ at the Air Force Headquarters today, Sunday (August 23, 2026).
At the beginning of the election board’s speech, the Prime Minister remembered with deep respect the great independence proclaimer, martyr President Ziaur Rahman, and former Prime Minister, late leader Begum Khaleda Zia. At the same time, she also gratefully remembered the contribution of all the martyrs of the great liberation war, all the martyrs of the 2024 mass uprising, and those killed and injured in various movements to establish democracy and human rights from 1971 to 2024.




The Prime Minister also paid deep respect to the sacrifices of all the martyrs, war-wounded and heroic freedom fighters, martyrs of the armed forces, and all the heroic soldiers who participated in the great liberation war.
The Prime Minister directed that the promotion of officers should be based on their professional skills, leadership qualities, discipline, honesty, trustworthiness, loyalty and suitability for employment, above political ideology and personal preferences.
She expressed her sincere gratitude to all the members of the two services, including the Chiefs of the two services, for their important contributions to protecting the country’s independence and sovereignty, as well as supporting the civil administration in maintaining internal peace and order, stability and disaster management.
Later, the Prime Minister visited various important operational installations of the Air Force. During this time, she witnessed various activities of the Air Defense Operations Center, Air Defense System Integration (ADSI), Air Command Operation Center (ACOC) and Aerospace Research and Development Complex (ARDC).
During this time, the Prime Minister inspected various modern flight systems prepared with the Bangladesh Air Force’s own technical capabilities. These include UAV (Drone), Kamikaze Drone, Interceptor Drone and VTOL technology.
Prime Minister Tarique Rahman expressed hope that the capabilities of the Bangladesh Air Force in research, innovation and technological self-reliance will be further strengthened in the future.
