Jessore Representative:
A cleanliness drive has been launched in Jessore municipal area to prevent the spread of dengue and chikungunya. State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Anindya Islam Amit inaugurated the program at the Jessore Institute Public Library premises on Saturday (May 16) morning. During the inauguration, the State Minister took part in the cleanliness drive by going down to a nearby pond.
Speaking as the chief guest at the event, the State Minister said that Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has ordered to conduct cleanliness drives every Saturday to prevent the outbreak of dengue and chikungunya in view of the monsoon season. This drive has been started in Jessore municipal area as part of that directive.
He said, “If we can keep the surroundings of our homes clean, then it will be possible to prevent the spread of various diseases including dengue and chikungunya to a large extent.”
At that time, the State Minister told the officials of the concerned administration that this activity should not be limited to formalities, but should be regular and ongoing.
Jessore Institute organized this cleanliness drive in collaboration with the district administration and Jessore Municipality.
Also present at the event were Jessore Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Ashek Hasan, Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Sujan Sarkar, District BNP President Advocate Syed Saberul Haque Sabu, General Secretary and District Council Administrator Delwar Hossain Khokon, Organizing Secretary Engineer Rabiul Islam, Jessore Institute General Secretary AZM Salek, Press Club Jessore President Zahid Hasan Tukun and Jessore Municipality Assistant Engineer BM Kamal Ahmed.
