Sri Lanka is set to host the much-anticipated SL-MICE Expo 2025 from 22–26 September, aimed at showcasing Sri Lanka’s potential as a premier MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) destination. The event is organized by the Sri Lanka Convention Bureau (SLCB), the national tourism organization under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment, and Tourism.

The announcement was made at a media conference, attended by Mr. T.M.J.W. Thennakoon, Additional Secretary (Administration), Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment and Tourism; Mr. Dheera Hettiarachchi, Chairman, SLCB & SLITHM; Hon. (Prof.) Ruwan Ranasinghe, M.P, Deputy Minister of Tourism; Mrs. Achini Dandunnage, Acting General Manager, SLCB; and Mr. Buddhika Hewawasam, Chairman, SLTPB & SLTDA.
The Expo will provide a dynamic platform for local and international stakeholders to showcase their products, services, and innovations, while fostering networking, business growth, and collaboration among MICE professionals worldwide.
Interest in this year’s edition has been exceptional. SLCB received over 500 applications from international MICE and travel agents, as well as media representatives, spanning more than 45 countries. From these, 100 foreign agents and 15 media representatives from 30 countries have been selected to participate. On the local front, SLCB continues to receive nominations from Sri Lanka’s travel and tourism industry to register as vendors. Over 110 local vendors have already signed up to connect with visiting international MICE and travel agents.

Mr. Dheera Hettiarachchi, Chairman of SLCB, said, “The SL-MICE Expo is Sri Lanka’s premier MICE tourism event, bringing together global and local industry stakeholders under one roof. It is not just an event—it is a catalyst for partnerships, a driver of economic growth, and a platform to showcase Sri Lanka as a world-class MICE destination.”

The five-day program includes a business forum, welcome dinner, opening plenary, tailored B2B meetings, a themed gala dinner combining networking with bleisure experiences, and exclusive familiarization tours to Kandy and Nuwara Eliya, highlighting Sri Lanka’s rich cultural and natural heritage. Since its inception in 2021, SLCB has successfully hosted four editions of the MICE Expo, evolving from virtual platforms to vibrant physical gatherings, attracting diverse global stakeholders, and establishing Sri Lanka as a leading MICE destination in Asia.
