Shibir-backed panel wins big in JCSU elections

The Shibir-backed panel has achieved a big success in the Jagannath University Central Students’ Union (JCSU) elections. Shibir-backed candidates have won all three top posts of the central parliament – Vice President (VP), General Secretary (GS) and Assistant General Secretary (AGS). With this, the candidates of the Chhatra Dal-backed panel have lost the top three posts.

After counting the votes from 38 centers, the Election Commission officially announced the results at around 11:15 am on Wednesday.

According to the announced results, Shibir-backed candidate Riazul Islam won the VP post. He defeated the Chhatra Dal-backed panel candidate AKM Rakib by a margin of 870 votes. Riazul Islam received a total of 5,558 votes, while AKM Rakib received 4,688 votes.

Shibir-backed candidate Abdul Alim Arif won the General Secretary (GS) post. He received a total of 5,468 votes. His nearest rival Khadijatul Kubra got 2,133 votes.

Shibir-backed candidate Masud Rana won the post of Assistant General Secretary (AGS). He got 5,15 votes. His nearest rival Atiqul Rahman Tanzil got 3,943 votes.
