Saudi Arabia’s Ambassador to Bangladesh Dr. Abdullah Zafer H. bin Abiyah called on Industries Minister Khandaker Abdul Muktadir at his office in the ministry in Dhaka on Wednesday (April 8, 2026).
During the meeting, they discussed various issues related to seaport development, investment, expansion of bilateral trade and cooperation in the industrial sector and mutual interests.
The minister said that there is a huge opportunity to expand economic cooperation between the two countries through seaport development, modernization of the shipping sector and increased investment. International partnership is especially important for Bangladesh in large projects like the Matarbari project. He said that the Bangladesh government is prioritizing the development of port infrastructure and has created a favorable environment for foreign investors.
The Ambassador appreciated the ongoing development activities of the Bangladesh government and expressed hope for increased cooperation in the port infrastructure and logistics sectors in the future.
During the meeting, both of them expressed hope that the friendly relations between Bangladesh and Saudi Arabia are increasing day by day and that this relationship will be further strengthened in the future.
Among others, the Secretary of the Ministry, Md. Obaidur Rahman, and senior officials of the Ministry and the Embassy were present at the time.
