The Russian Embassy in Bangladesh organized a colorful reception in Dhaka on Friday (June 12, 2026) to mark Russia’s National Day. The event was attended by high-ranking officials of the Bangladesh government, members of parliament, diplomats from various countries, military officers, journalists, and students of former Soviet and Russian universities.

In his welcome speech, Russian Charge d’Affaires to Bangladesh Vyacheslav Sentyurin highlighted the significant progress in Russia-Bangladesh relations in the first half of 2026. He cited the recent visit of Bangladesh Foreign Minister Dr. Khalilur Rahman to Moscow and the start of physical start-up of the first unit of the Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant as important milestones in cooperation between the two countries.

The chief guest of the event, Secretary to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Dr. Md Nazrul Islam, praised Russia’s rich intellectual and cultural heritage in his speech. At the same time, he reiterated Bangladesh’s strong commitment to further strengthening the existing friendly relations between Bangladesh and Russia.




One of the highlights of the event was the enchanting performance of the ‘Alabuga Folk Song and Dance Ensemble’ from the Republic of Tatarstan, Russia. The artists presented the rich culture and traditions of the Tatar people to the guests through folk and modern songs, dances and musical instruments.




This event to celebrate the National Day of Russia through colorful cultural events further strengthened the bonds of friendly relations and cultural exchange between the two countries.
