The activities of RAB have been praised after the July Revolution of 2024. Although RAB had some bad reputation during the fascist regime before the July Revolution, RAB has earned good reputation and appreciation from the people through its activities after the July Uprising, said Home Affairs Advisor Lieutenant General Md. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury (Retd.).
The advisor made this comment while speaking as the chief guest at the RAB Commanders’ Conference at the RAB Headquarters in Uttara, the capital, on Thursday (September 18, 2025) afternoon.
The advisor said that RAB must forget the past and work with new enthusiasm. RAB’s notable success in recent times is its special role in suppressing drugs and recovering looted weapons. He said, “We are catching drug carriers, but the godfathers are remaining out of reach.” Therefore, RAB must play a role in arresting the godfathers of drugs. Moreover, although most of the looted weapons have been recovered, several weapons are still out there. RAB must also play a major role in recovering these weapons.
Thanking the RAB members for performing their duties faithfully during Durga Puja last year, Lieutenant General Md. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury (Retd.) said that this time the number of puja mandap has increased. Therefore, this time, RAB members will have to perform their duties with more effort and sincerity. From now on, patrolling and surveillance in puja mandap should be increased.
Stating that the context of this year’s national elections is different, the advisor said that although the law and order situation is good at present, internal conflicts and violence may increase between political parties during the elections. Moreover, the allies of the fallen dictatorship may try to sabotage the elections. Therefore, from now on, various law and order forces including RAB must be vigilant and alert. He also urged RAB members to be careful about the use of deadly weapons during this time.
Later in a news briefing, the Home Affairs Advisor said, there is no fear about Durga Puja. This time the puja will be held in a more festive atmosphere than last time. He said, we are fully prepared for Durga Puja. Our law enforcement agencies are also trying their best. He also said, along with other law enforcement agencies, Ansar members will be on duty for five days during Durga Puja. Moreover, seven people will be on duty at each puja mandap from the mandap. They should perform the duties assigned to them properly. In that case, the Advisor expressed hope that no untoward incident will happen at the puja mandap.
