Home Affairs Advisor Lieutenant General Md. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury (retd.) said that a proposal has been sent to change the name and uniform of the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB). A decision will be taken in the next meeting of the Advisory Council Committee on Law and Order. If necessary, RAB will be re-formed.
The advisor said this while briefing journalists after the 7th meeting of the Advisory Council Committee on Law and Order at the conference room of the Ministry of Home Affairs at the Bangladesh Secretariat on Tuesday (February 18, 2025) afternoon.

In response to journalists’ questions about the law and order situation, the advisor said that juvenile gangs and robberies have reduced a lot from before. But that has not yet reached a tolerable level. He said that those involved in the recent incident of publicly beating a couple with a ramda in Uttara in the capital have been brought under the law and arrested immediately.
Lieutenant General Md. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury (Retd.) said, “Our law enforcement forces are having to engage in other activities instead of their main job to listen to the various demands of the people. As a result, their strength is decreasing.” He advised the protesters to use specific places or Suhrawardy Udyan to protest their demands. He also said, “No one wants the people to suffer by blocking roads and ghats.”
Members of the Advisory Council Committee on Law and Order participated in the meeting.
