Prime Minister Tarique Rahman visited the summer training exercise of the Bangladesh Army. He reached the exercise site organized in the East Rahmatpur area of Babuganj Upazila of Barisal at 11:30 am today, Monday (July 13, 2026).
During the visit, the Prime Minister witnessed various training activities, war preparations and tactical exercises conducted by the army personnel in the jungle area. The concerned army officers informed him about the operational readiness, strategic capabilities and various aspects of the modern defense system of the army.
During this time, the Prime Minister witnessed the operation of the anti-drone multi-barrel system and got an idea about its use and capabilities.
At one stage of the exercise visit, the Prime Minister exchanged views with the army personnel on duty, inquired about them and urged them to perform their duties with professionalism, discipline and patriotism. He also accepted food prepared at the field level for the army personnel participating in the exercise.
In her speech later, the Prime Minister said that the people have deep trust in the Bangladesh Army, which is a symbol of the country’s independence and sovereignty. The army has repeatedly set shining examples of professionalism, bravery and patriotism in dealing with national crises, ensuring the country’s security and maintaining law and order.
She said that the discipline, efficiency, self-sacrifice and devotion to duty of the army members have established a special status for the army among the people of the country. To maintain this trust and status, she emphasized professional training, use of modern technology and maintaining maximum readiness.
The Prime Minister also said that she grew up in a military family. Therefore, when she comes to the army members, she remembers her childhood memories and feels happy to spend time with them.
The Prime Minister expressed hope that the Bangladesh Army will achieve more reputation, prestige and professional recognition beyond the country’s borders and around the world in the coming days. She said that the government will continue all necessary cooperation to increase the army’s capacity, modernize and ensure professional excellence.
Information and Broadcasting Minister Zahir Uddin Swapan, Prime Minister’s Defense Advisor Brigadier General (Retd) Dr. AKM Shamsul Islam, Bangladesh Army Chief General Waqar-uz-Zaman, Prime Minister’s Military Secretary Major General Abul Hasnat Mohammad Tariq and senior army officials were present during the visit.
