Prime Minister Tarique Rahman Holds Key Meeting on Reviving Closed Textile and Jute Mills

Honorable Prime Minister Tarique Rahman held a meeting with relevant stakeholders to review the current condition of closed mills and factories under the Ministry of Textiles and Jute and to explore possibilities for their reopening.

The meeting was held on Monday morning (May 4, 2026) at the Prime Minister’s Office in the Cabinet Division of the Bangladesh Secretariat. Discussions focused on reviving the operations of these industrial establishments, attracting investment, and creating employment opportunities.

Among those present at the meeting were the Prime Minister’s Political and Industrial Affairs Adviser Advocate Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, Minister of Commerce, Textiles and Jute Khandaker Abdul Muktadir, State Minister Shariful Alam, and Executive Chairman of the Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA), Chowdhury Ashik Mahmud Bin Harun, along with other concerned officials.
