Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has arrived in China on a three-day official visit after successfully completing a two-day official visit to Malaysia. He is accompanied by his wife Dr. Zubaida Rahman on the visit.
The Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight carrying the Prime Minister landed at Dalian Zhoushuizi International Airport in China at 10:55 pm local time (8:55 pm Bangladesh time) on Monday (June 22). Vice Governor of China’s Liaoning Province Bai Ying welcomed the Prime Minister at the airport. Chinese Ambassador to Dhaka Yao Wen and other high-ranking Chinese government officials were present at the time.

Earlier, the Prime Minister left for Dalian, Liaoning Province, China from Kuala Lumpur International Airport in Malaysia at 5 pm local time. Malaysian Minister of Religious Affairs Dr. Zulkifli Hassan and his wife.
During her stay in Dalian, the Prime Minister will participate in the Summer Davos Conference of the World Economic Forum. There, she will deliver a keynote address at the session titled ‘Climate Leadership in a Shifting Global Landscape’. She is also scheduled to hold meetings with the President of the WEF and heads of government and state of various countries.
The Prime Minister will then visit the Chinese capital Beijing, where the main program of her official visit will be held. She will highlight Bangladesh’s investment potential as the keynote speaker at the ‘Bangladesh Investment Forum’ organized by the Bangladesh Investment Development Authority on June 25. Chinese investors and business leaders participating in it will get a detailed idea of Bangladesh’s investment environment, policy benefits and prospects.
It is worth noting that Tarique Rahman took office as the Prime Minister on February 17 after winning an absolute majority in the 13th National Parliament elections held on February 12. Malaysia was his first official foreign visit after taking office and this was his first foreign visit as the Prime Minister.
During her visit to Malaysia, Prime Minister Tarique Rahman held several important meetings with Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim. First, there was a private meeting between the two prime ministers and later, in a limited meeting, various issues of mutual interest were discussed. Later, a larger bilateral meeting was held with the participation of delegations from both countries.
After the meeting, the prime ministers of the two countries participated in a joint press briefing. Prime Minister Tarique Rahman also participated in a luncheon and cultural program organized at the residence of the Malaysian Prime Minister.
On June 21, at 2:45 pm, the Prime Minister departed for Kuala Lumpur on a Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka. When her plane landed at Kuala Lumpur International Airport at 8:35 pm local time in Malaysia, she was received by Malaysian Minister of Religious Affairs Dr. Zulkifli Hassan. Later, the Prime Minister was given a formal ‘Guard of Honor’ by the Malaysian government as per state protocol.
