A seminar was held on Sunday (March 23) under the joint initiative of the Press Institute Bangladesh (PIB) and Oxfam Bangladesh to discuss the role and responsibilities of the media in preventing misinformation and disinformation. The discussion, held at the PIB seminar hall, focused on the topic ‘Media in the Age of Misinformation and Disinformation: Challenges, Responsibilities, and the Path Forward for Development.’
The seminar was presided over by PIB Director General Mr. Faruq Wasif. The chief guest at the discussion was Syeda Rezwana Hasan, Advisor to the Interim Government’s Ministry of Environment, Forest, and Climate Change. Other notable attendees included Kamal Ahmed, Head of the Media Reform Committee; Ashish Damle, Country Director of Oxfam in Bangladesh; Mohammad Ejaz, Administrator of Dhaka North City Corporation; and Dr. Rashed Al Mahmud Titumir, Professor at the Department of Development Studies, University of Dhaka.
