Preparatory meeting held in the National Parliament on the occasion of the Presidential Election, 2026

A preparatory meeting was held in the Cabinet Room of the Bangladesh National Parliament on Tuesday (11 August 2026) under the chairmanship of the Acting Speaker of the National Parliament, Barrister Kaiser Kamal MP.

The meeting was attended by the Chief Whip of the National Parliament, Md. Nurul Islam MP, Chief Whip of the Opposition, Md. Nahid Islam MP, and whips Alhaj Md. G. K. Gaus MP, Rakibul Islam Bakul MP, Mia Nuruddin Ahmed Apu MP, Md. Akhtaruzzaman Mia MP, A. B. M. Ashraf Uddin (Nizan) MP.

Acting Speaker Barrister Kaiser Kamal MP said that all aspects of the state structure must be free from fascists. The Presidential Election, 2026 is a historic moment in building a fascism-free Bangladesh.

The meeting confirmed the minutes of the meeting regarding the use of the session hall of the National Parliament for the purpose of holding the Presidential Election, 2026, providing all logistical support and ensuring the presence of members of parliament, with necessary amendments.

The meeting advised to complete all logistical support and necessary preparations for the Presidential Election, 2026.

It is to be noted that the Presidential Election, 2026 will be held in the Parliament House on Thursday, August 20, 2026, as per the schedule of the Presidential Election by the Bangladesh Election Commission. The election will be conducted by the Chief Election Commission in accordance with Section 3 of the Presidential Election Act, 1991.

Secretary of the Bangladesh National Parliament Secretariat Barrister Md. Golam Sarwar Bhuiyan, Senior Secretary of the Election Commission Akhtar Ahmed and senior officials of the National Parliament Secretariat were present at the event.
