A ‘pre-preparatory meeting’ was held in Trishal, Mymensingh to successfully organize national-level programs on the occasion of the 127th birth anniversary of national poet Kazi Nazrul Islam. The meeting was held at the Rashedul Islam Conference Hall of Trishal Upazila Office on Monday (11 May 2026) at the initiative of the Mymensingh District Administration.
The function was presided over by Mymensingh Deputy Commissioner Md. Saifur Rahman and Cultural Affairs Minister Nitai Roy Chowdhury were present as the chief guest. Mymensingh-7 (Trishal) constituency MP Dr. Md. Mahbubur Rahman, Mymensingh Divisional Commissioner Farah Shammi and District Council Administrator Syed Emran Saleh spoke as special guests in the meeting.
It was informed in the meeting that preparations for organizing a five-day colorful national program on the occasion of the upcoming 127th Nazrul Birth Anniversary are progressing rapidly. Mymensingh District Administration, District Council and all the concerned departments are working together towards this goal. Already, most of the initial preparations for the program have been completed and the remaining work will be completed within the stipulated time, it was expressed in the meeting that it is hoped that it will be completed within the stipulated time.
In his speech as the chief guest, the Minister of Culture said, Kazi Nazrul Islam is our national poet and spirit bearer. Extensive plans have been taken at the national level to give a different dimension to this year’s birth anniversary and present it aesthetically. The Ministry of Culture will provide all kinds of cooperation to make this national festival a success, regardless of party or opinion.
Mymensingh Deputy Commissioner Md. Saifur Rahman said that Prime Minister of Bangladesh Tarique Rahman will be present as the chief guest on the concluding day of this five-day festival. Ministers and dignitaries from different ministries will be present every day. The main attraction of this event will be a colorful procession, traditional Nazrul Mela, commemorative discussions and a delightful cultural program with the participation of the country’s leading artists.
The Mymensingh Police Superintendent, Trishal Upazila Executive Officer, Vice Chancellor of Jatiya Kabi Kazi Nazrul Islam University, senior officials of various government departments, prominent political figures and media personnel were also present at the preparatory meeting.
