Police self-respect restored through elections: Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam

In a briefing held at the Foreign Service Academy in the capital on Sunday (February 15, 2026) after the meeting of the Advisory Council, Chief Advisor’s Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam said that Bangladesh Police has regained its self-respect through this election.

He said, “An election has been held through which the parties affected by the disappearances and murders in the country and the leaders of the July Revolution will represent the opposition party. This is an important example for democracy.”

The Press Secretary also said that there have been no attacks on minorities in the post-election period, which carries a positive message for the country. The Chief Advisor thanked the Advisory Council for organizing peaceful elections. At the same time, satisfaction was also expressed and gratitude was expressed to the Election Commission.

The briefing said that the foreign ministers of all SAARC countries as well as the foreign minister of Qatar have been invited to the swearing-in ceremony of the new government.

The press secretary also said that on the day of the election, the chief advisor himself sat at the police headquarters and observed the situation for about an hour and a half and spoke directly to 17 centers.

The chief advisor’s press secretary, Shafiqul Alam, presented this information in the post-meeting briefing.
