Bangladesh Police has taken to the field to ensure safe and smooth journey of people heading home on the occasion of the upcoming holy Eid-ul-Fitr. For this purpose, special activities have been intensified at Gabtoli Bus Terminal, one of the busiest transport hubs in the capital.
On Tuesday (March 17, 2026), Bangladesh Police Inspector General (IGP) Md. Ali Hossain Fakir and Dhaka Metropolitan Police Acting Police Commissioner Md. Sarwar BPM-Seba inspected Gabtoli Bus Terminal. During this time, they exchanged views with passengers and reviewed the overall situation of the Eid journey on the spot.
During the inspection, the police chiefs inquired about the various steps taken to ensure the safety of passengers, resolve traffic congestion and prevent excessive fare collection. The concerned officials said that special traffic management has been taken to keep the traffic movement normal in the terminal and surrounding roads.
In addition, police surveillance has been increased in the terminal area to ensure the safety of passengers. Adequate number of law enforcement officers, including plainclothes police, have been deployed to prevent any kind of criminal activity.
Dhaka Metropolitan Police Additional Police Commissioner (Crime and Operations) SN Md. Nazrul Islam, Additional Police Commissioner (DB) Md. Shafiqul Islam, Additional Police Commissioner (Traffic) Md. Anisur Rahman and DC Traffic (Mirpur) Mohammad Chanowar Hossain PPM-Bar, along with senior officials, were present during the inspection.
