Police have the power to cooperate for fair elections: Inspector General of Police

The police are working to control the law and order situation across the country after August 5. Along with this, the police will be prepared at the field level for the elections after ensuring the security of the common people, said Inspector General of Police (IGP) Baharul Alam. He made these remarks at a press conference at the Police Headquarters this Thursday (December 5, 2024) afternoon.

In response to a question, the Inspector General of Police said, “I can definitely say that the police have the power to cooperate 100 percent with the Election Commission for fair elections. The police will fulfill that responsibility properly.”

The police chief said, “Police members are working to eradicate crime all over the country. There are some temporary difficulties. However, the police will have to earn that trust from the people by doing a good job.”

At the beginning of the program, the IGP said that no death is desirable. He expressed his sincere condolences to the families of all the martyrs in this mass uprising of the student crowd.
