People’s destiny cannot be changed if corruption cannot be curbed: Tarique Rahman

Staff Correspondent:

Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Chairman Tarique Rahman has said that no matter how many plans are made, real change in people’s destiny will be difficult if corruption cannot be curbed. He said that corruption must be strictly suppressed through law enforcement.

He made these remarks as the chief guest at an election rally organized at Pallabi Ground in the capital on Sunday (February 8) afternoon.

Tarique Rahman said, “This country must be developed in such a way that the country’s children can do business and build their own careers in their own country after completing their studies. Creating employment opportunities will be one of the main goals of BNP.”

Stating that BNP will resume the famous canal digging program of martyred President Ziaur Rahman if it comes to power, the BNP chairman said, “To resolve waterlogging in Dhaka city, as many canals as are needed will be identified and dug wherever necessary. This is not only to protect the environment, but also to improve the quality of life of the city dwellers.”

The public meeting was presided over by BNP’s nominated candidate for Dhaka-16 constituency and Dhaka City North BNP convener Aminul Haque.

Also present at the time were BNP’s Central Election Steering Committee spokesperson and chairman’s advisor Mahdi Amin, Bangladesh Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal president Rakibul Islam Rakib, and leaders and activists from various levels of BNP and its affiliates.

With the presence of a large number of leaders and activists and supporters at the public meeting, the Pallabi field turned into a sea of people.
