Advisor to the Ministry of Shipping and Labor and Employment, Brigadier General (Retd) Dr. M. Sakhawat Hossain, paid a courtesy call on Pakistan High Commissioner to Bangladesh Imran Haider on Wednesday (December 24, 2025) afternoon.
The meeting held at the office of the Shipping Advisor discussed in detail the bilateral relations between Bangladesh and Pakistan, trade expansion, shipping, marine resources management, and the possibility of increasing cooperation in the labor and employment sectors.

The Shipping Advisor said, “Bangladesh believes in strengthening relations with neighboring and friendly countries on the basis of mutual respect and cooperation. Mutual exchange of experience and cooperation in the shipping and labor sectors will bring benefits to the people of both countries.”
He also said, “There is ample opportunity to work jointly for regional connectivity, safe shipping and development of skilled manpower.”
The High Commissioner of Pakistan also appreciated the progress of Bangladesh’s shipping sector and expressed his interest in working closely to further strengthen the existing relations between the two countries.
The High Commissioner emphasized on increasing bilateral cooperation between Bangladesh Shipping Corporation (BSC) and Pakistan National Shipping Corporation (PNSC) to enhance cooperation in the shipping sector. He also emphasized on increasing mutual cooperation in various technical matters of other ports including Matarbari Deep Sea Port.
Secretary of the Ministry of Shipping Dr. Nurunnahar Chowdhury, ndc, and concerned officials of the ministry were present during the courtesy call.
