Trade advisor Dr. Salehuddin Ahmed said that the government is taking effective steps to develop the domestic industry. This increases the confidence of businessmen. Our reserves are also increasing, the country’s economy is turning around.
He said this in a special review meeting held in the conference room of the Ministry of Commerce at the secretariat on Thursday (31 October 2024) afternoon.
Top business leaders of the country and relevant senior officials of the Ministry of Commerce participated in the review meeting.
The trade advisor said that it is not possible to do everything within three months. But we are working. Whether it is today or tomorrow, the political government will come to power. We will work for the country as long as we have time.
He also said that the government is giving priority to the food, energy, fertilizer and pesticide sectors. There will be government support for the private sector in all these sectors. We are trying to develop the private sector.
The business leaders appreciated the steps taken by the government to develop the domestic industry. They called for opening of one stop service center for the overall development of the private sector, reduction of duty tax on imports of medicines, leather, garments and other industries and ensuring uninterrupted gas and electricity supply.
Commerce Ministry Secretary Mohang Salim Uddin, Square Group Managing Director Tapan Chowdhury, Incepta Pharmaceutical Chairman Abdul Mokhtadir, Apex Group Managing Director Syed Nasim Manjur, Pran Group Director Ujama Chowdhury and others spoke at the event.
