Oman, Bangladesh Bilateral Cooperation Paving the Way for Prosperity: Oman Ambassador

The Embassy of Oman in Bangladesh celebrated the “Glorious National Day of Oman” and the 50th anniversary of Bangladesh-Oman diplomatic relations on Thursday (November 20). The event was organized in a colorful manner and was attended by various dignitaries including diplomats, businessmen and academicians.

Professor Dr. C.R. Abrar, Education Advisor, Ministry of Education, was present as the chief guest at the event. In his speech, he said, “I am very happy and proud to participate in the celebration of the 55th National Day of Oman. On behalf of the government and people of Bangladesh, I extend my heartfelt congratulations to Mahmud Sultan Maitham Bintarik and the dear people of Oman. I thank the Embassy and Ambassador Jamil bin Haji bin Ismail Al Balushi for the courtesy invitation.”

Dr. Abrar further said, “The relations between Bangladesh and Oman are centuries old, built on trade, culture and common values. Our diplomatic relations, which were formally established in 1974, are based on deep friendship, mutual respect and cooperation. This year marks the golden jubilee of our diplomatic relations, which is a reflection of our mutual friendship and future progress.”

He stressed the importance of expanding bilateral cooperation in various fields, including trade, agriculture, renewable energy, information and communication technology, human resources, food security and small and medium enterprises. He also mentioned that the formation of a joint business council and commerce committee between Bangladesh and Oman would further enhance the prospects for expanding trade and investment.

Omani Ambassador to Bangladesh Jamil bin Haji bin Ismail Al Balushi said, “I am proud to welcome you all to this joyous event. Today we celebrate the rich history of Oman, which was founded in 1744 under the leadership of Imam Muhammad Bisaid Al Husseini. Currently, our country, under the leadership of Sultan Hayesan Bin Tariq, is moving forward towards achieving the ‘Oman Asia 2040’ vision, where a strong economy, a developing society and modern institutions are being built.”

The Ambassador further noted, “Oman and Bangladesh enjoy deep and cordial relations. Mutual respect and cooperation between the two countries contribute to the welfare of the people of both countries and poverty reduction. We reaffirm our commitment to expand trade and investment and build a bright and prosperous future together.”

The event featured the Omani national anthem and featured a presentation of the country’s heritage, culture and history. The event began with the cutting of a cake. Traditional Omani food was also served.

Ambassadors, diplomats, businessmen and distinguished guests from various countries participated in the event. The event concluded with a pledge to further strengthen the relations between the two countries.
