No security threat over Victory Day: Home Adviser

Home Affairs Advisor Lt. Gen. Md. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury (retd.) said that there is no security risk in celebrating Victory Day on December 16. Adequate security measures have been taken to ensure that everyone can celebrate this National Day spontaneously and that no accidents or vandalism can take place. Moreover, the law and order situation is now better than before. Steps are being taken to do better.

The adviser said these things during the press briefing at the end of the inter-ministerial meeting held on Monday (November 18, 2024) afternoon at the conference room of the Ministry of Home Affairs regarding the adoption of overall security measures including law and order control for the proper implementation of the national program adopted by the Ministry of Liberation War in order to celebrate the Great Victory Day 2024 with due dignity. He presided over it.

The adviser said that the victory achieved in the Great War of Independence is not a single one. Everyone participated in it. So this victory day is for everyone, all Bangladeshis. He expressed hope that the Victory Day would be well celebrated with the participation of all.

Lt. Gen. Md. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury (Retd.) said that various discussions were held in the inter-ministerial meeting to coordinate the Victory Day with the participation of all. In particular, instructions have been given regarding the correct color, size and proper hoisting of the national flag. Moreover, the issue of maintaining traffic order on the road has also been discussed. The advisor said that necessary measures have been taken to ensure that Victory Day is well lit and celebrated in a festive atmosphere.

In the meeting, Special Assistant (rank of State Minister), Ministry of Home Affairs, Khoda Baksh Chowdhury, Senior Secretary of Public Security Department and Security Services Department of the Ministry of Home Affairs. Mohammad Abdul Momen, Inspector General of Police Md. Moinul Islam NDC and representatives of various law and order forces and related ministries participated.
