No security concerns surrounding August 5 – Home Affairs Advisor

Home Affairs Advisor Lieutenant General Md. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury (Retd.) has said that there is no security concern surrounding August 5.

The advisor said this in response to questions from journalists in the corridor of the Home Ministry at the Bangladesh Secretariat on Wednesday (July 30, 2025) afternoon.

In response to questions from journalists regarding the 11-day special operation from July 29 to August 8, 2025 in a letter issued by the Special Branch (SB) of Bangladesh Police, the advisor said, this is not an operation of the entire Bangladesh, but of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP). The DMP can tell you more about it. He said, you have caught me for the need to find this news. Similarly, different initiatives are taken or operations are conducted at different times for different needs.

In response to another question from the journalists, Lieutenant General Md. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury (Retd.) said, on-arrival visas are not being canceled. We are giving on-arrival visas to countries with which we have on-arrival visa agreements. We will not give on-arrival visas to those with whom we do not have agreements.

The advisor said, a team from Malaysia came to pay a courtesy call on me. They will participate in a conference with the police at the police headquarters. At this time, in response to another question from the journalists, the advisor said, the culprits in the Gangachara incident in Rangpur will be brought to justice.
