No one involved in mob incidents will be spared – Home Affairs Advisor

Home Affairs Advisor Lieutenant General Md. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury (retd.) said, no one involved in mob violence incidents will be spared. Action is being taken against all. No matter how powerful the culprit is, he will be found and brought to justice.

The advisor said this while briefing reporters after visiting the Industrial Police Headquarters and Uttara Purba Police Station in Uttara in the capital on Sunday (July 06, 2025) afternoon.

The advisor said, although the number of mobs has decreased a lot from before, such incidents have occurred again in some areas recently. We are taking a very strict position on this matter. He said, seven people have already been arrested in an incident in Rangpur. Whoever commits wrongdoing will not be able to stay in the area anymore. Legal action will be taken against him. If anyone is involved with mobs in the future, he will also be brought to justice. He also said, we would not have received much news if mobs or such crimes had occurred earlier. Now, with the help of media and information technology, all information is available quickly.

Regarding the Industrial Police, Lieutenant General Md. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury (Retd.) said that this important unit of the police has a shortage of manpower. Despite this, the Industrial Police is working hard to resolve various problems in the country’s industrial sector. The advisor said that since the number of industries and factories in the country is increasing day by day, there is a need to increase the manpower and capacity of this force. He also said that the government is already working to resolve the issue.

Stating that there were some problems in Uttara Purba Police Station, the advisor said that after visiting the police station, efforts are being made to identify them and solve them. The problem of their washroom has already been resolved.

In response to journalists’ questions regarding the national election, the advisor said that creating an environment for elections is not only the job of the law enforcement agencies. The Election Commission, administration, responsible officials and political parties participating in the elections also have to be prepared in this regard. He said that there is no shortage of our preparations. We are working towards organizing fair elections and are making all preparations to control the law and order situation. He said the government will provide all kinds of cooperation to ensure fair and impartial elections with the participation of all parties.

Industrial Police Chief and Additional IGP Gazi Jasim Uddin, along with senior police officials from various levels, were present at the time.
