Desk Report:
FMO, the Dutch entrepreneurial development bank, and PRAN, one of Bangladesh’s leading agro-processing companies, have signed a financing agreement worth US$30 million to develop the country’s agri-food value chain and enhance export capabilities.

The agreement was signed on Tuesday (September 29, 2026). Under this financing facility, investments will be made in the operations of Banga Millers Limited and Pran Agro Limited.
The funds will support the installation of modern food-processing machinery, the expansion of contract farming, and the import of essential food and agricultural products.

This partnership aims to strengthen the entire agri-food value chain—spanning from agricultural production to processing and marketing. Particular emphasis will be placed on supporting contract farming for potatoes, rice, mangoes, and tomatoes. Additionally, the financing will help boost the production and export capacity of food products made in Bangladesh.
Stakeholders believe that this partnership between FMO and PRAN will create new opportunities for investment, technology transfer, and knowledge exchange within Bangladesh’s agriculture and food processing sectors.
