State Minister for Youth and Sports Md. Aminul Haque on Sunday (July 5, 2026) presented a check for financial assistance for the treatment of budding cricketer Mehedi Hasan Hridoy, who is suffering from incurable cancer, at the Youth Building adjacent to Motijheel. The State Minister handed over a check of Tk 5 lakh to his father Abul Kasem as part of the Ministry of Youth and Sports’s contribution to Hridoy’s treatment expenses.
At the check-giving ceremony, the State Minister said that cricketer Mehedi Hasan Hridoy is suffering from an incurable disease, cancer. A short video clip in this regard came to the attention of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman. As soon as the matter came to his attention, he ordered immediate action.
The State Minister also said that the necessary help has already been arranged for Hridoy from the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB). The Ministry of Youth and Sports will be by his side until Mehedi Hasan Hridoy is completely cured. He wished Hridoy a speedy recovery.
Youth and Sports Secretary Md. Mahbub-ul-Alam, who was present at the event, said, “Being by the side of sick athletes is one of our responsibilities. Today’s donation is just a symbolic initiative. The Ministry of Youth and Sports will continue to provide such humanitarian work in the event of any athlete’s crisis in the country.”
