Desk Report:

State Minister for Land and Chittagong Hill Tracts Affairs Mir Mohammad Helal Uddin said that Martyr President Ziaur Rahman was a great leader born to create history. His compassion, honesty and patriotism for Bangladesh will forever be a source of inspiration in the hearts of every citizen. He did not stop at just declaring an independent state, but rather rebuilt a war-torn nation and laid a solid foundation for modern Bangladesh. His life and ideals were completely dedicated to the welfare of the country and its people.

The State Minister said these things while addressing a public gathering organized in the Haji Camp area of Pahartali Saraipara ward of Chittagong metropolis on Friday (May 15, 2026) as the chief guest.

On the occasion of the 45th martyrdom anniversary of the great independence proclaimer and founder of BNP, martyred President Ziaur Rahman, the program was organized to inaugurate a month-long tree plantation and sapling distribution program among the helpless people, jointly initiated by Pahartali, Khulshi, Akbar Shah, Halishahar and Double Mooring Thana Jubo Dal and Chhatra Dal.

Remembering the contribution of martyred President Ziaur Rahman with deep respect, the State Minister said that he taught us – ‘The party is bigger than the individual, the country is bigger than the party’. The spiritual connection he had with the soil and people of Bangladesh is rare in the history of the world. He established our identity by restoring multi-party democracy, making the country self-reliant and presenting the timeless philosophy of ‘Bangladeshi nationalism’. He commented that Prime Minister Tarique Rahman is working for the development of the country at an unprecedented and unstoppable pace to implement his ideals and fulfill his unfinished dreams.

The program was chaired by Shariful Islam Tuhin, member secretary of Chattogram Metropolitan Chhatra Dal, and moderated by Fazlul Haque Sumon, former vice-president of the Metropolitan Jubo Dal. Mosharraf Hossain Dipti, former vice-president of the Central Jubo Dal and former president of the Chittagong Metropolitan Jubo Dal, was the main speaker. Senior leaders of BNP and its affiliates were present at the program.

After the speech, the State Minister handed over food items to the helpless and distressed people and announced the formal inauguration of a month-long tree plantation program to protect the balance of the environment by planting saplings.
