MAFF and Osaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry delegation visit Unimart to strengthen cooperation in Bangladesh’s retail and agri-food sectors

A high-level Japanese business delegation visited Unimart to strengthen cooperation in Bangladesh’s retail and agri-food sectors. The visit, organized by JETRO Dhaka, was attended by representatives from Japan’s Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (MAFF) and Osaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

As part of the visit, they inspected Unimart’s retail operations and discussed potential investment and cooperation in Bangladesh’s modern retail market, supply chain and agri-food sector.

The delegation included Mr. Sasaji Ken, Deputy Director-General of MAFF, Mr. Morishima Hiromitsu, Chairman of the International Business Committee of Osaka Chamber, and Mr. Kataoka Kazuaki, Country Representative of JETRO Dhaka. On behalf of Unimart and United Group, they were welcomed by Director Mr. Sharfuddin Akhtar Rashid, Chief Executive Officer Mr. Gazi Mahfuzur Rahman and Chief Operating Officer Mr. Shahin Mahmud.

Both sides expressed optimism about expanding joint ventures in the retail market development, technical cooperation and agri-food sector in the future. Unimart said that this visit will create an opportunity to further strengthen Bangladesh-Japan bilateral trade cooperation.
