On Saturday (April 04, 2026), the award distribution ceremony of the national level Shrimad Bhagavad Gita Reading Competition 2025 organized by the Bangladesh Puja Udyapan Parishad was held in the premises of the traditional Dhakeshwari Temple in the capital with a colorful arrangement.
Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Minister Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir was present as the chief guest at the event. Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Pranay Verma was present as the special guest at the event organized under the chairmanship of Bangladesh Puja Udyapan Parishad President Shri Basudeb Dhar.
The minister said that the government’s goal is to make Bangladesh a non-communal and harmonious country. There should be no division on the basis of religion, but rather the development of the country should be ensured through the collective efforts of all. He also said that it is everyone’s responsibility to preserve the thousand-year-old tradition of brotherhood and coexistence. If anyone tries to destroy this harmony, it will be strictly resisted.
Speaking as a special guest, Indian High Commissioner Pranay Verma said that his country will always stand by Bangladesh in preserving the tradition of communal harmony and tolerance.
Prizes were distributed among the winners of the competition at the event, and the speakers expressed the opinion that such an event will play an important role in spreading religious values and moral education.
Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Bijon Kanti Sarkar, Dhaka-7 MP Hamidur Rahman, media personnel and prominent figures were present at the event.
