Kaliakoir Upazila Executive Officer fines 3 people Tk 250,000 in campaign against illegal soil cutting

A mobile court drive to prevent illegal soil cutting in Kaliakoir, Gazipur, has fined three people a total of Tk 250,000. At the same time, various equipment related to soil cutting was seized.

The drive was conducted on Thursday (January 1, 2026) and the previous day, Wednesday (December 31, 2025). Three separate mobile courts were conducted in the drive.

The drive was led by the Kaliakoir Upazila Executive Officer (UNO) and Assistant Commissioner (Land). According to the administration, the drive was conducted based on allegations that soil was being illegally cut from cropland and river areas, causing serious damage to the environment and agricultural land.

The upazila administration said that such drives against soil cutters will continue in the future.

At this time, the administration appealed to the people of Kaliakoir from all walks of life, saying that if they cooperate by providing information about illegal soil cutting from nearby croplands and rivers, it will be possible to stop this evil cycle. It was mentioned that only through joint efforts can Kaliakoir be protected from the hands of soil eaters.
