JICA started renovation of Fish Landing Center in Cox’s Bazar

Under JICA’s grant project with a limit of up to 2,294 million JPY, Bangladesh Fisheries Development Corporation handed over the project site to JDC-Konoike, a Japanese contractor, to renovate the Fish Landing Center in Cox’s Bazar in the presence of Ms. Farida Akhter, Adviser, Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock; Mr. Saida Shinichi, Ambassador of Japan to Bangladesh; Mr. Ichiguchi Tomohide, Chief Representative, JICA Bangladesh Office; and other relevant officials of JICA and BFDC.

It is expected that Fish Landing Center will directly benefit 2,000 people per day, including boat owners, fishermen, wholesalers, and laborers, while indirectly benefiting 200,000 consumers from the fish markets in Chattogram and Dhaka.
