The Japan-Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce and Industry (JBCCI) has successfully concluded its 21st Annual General Meeting (AGM) and the induction ceremony for its new Board of Directors for the 2026–2028 term, reaffirming its commitment to further strengthening trade, investment, and business cooperation between Bangladesh and Japan.
The event, held on Sunday (October 4, 2026) at Hotel Lakeshore Grand in the capital, was attended by approximately 240 JBCCI members, board members, distinguished guests, and representatives from various organizations.




During the AGM, the activities and achievements of JBCCI for the 2025–2026 fiscal year were reviewed. Key highlights included the growth of the organization’s membership to 391 companies, policy support and advocacy initiatives, assistance in finalizing the Bangladesh-Japan Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA), expansion of business networks, investment attraction, and the strengthening of high-level business and institutional ties between the two nations.
His Excellency Iwama Kiminori, the Ambassador of Japan to Bangladesh, attended the event as the chief guest. He reiterated Japan’s continued support for JBCCI’s activities and emphasized the importance of further bolstering economic and business relations between Bangladesh and Japan.
A major highlight of the AGM was the formal introduction of the new JBCCI Board of Directors for the 2026–2028 term. Kazuyuki Kataoka has assumed the role of President, leading the new board.
The new leadership expressed its commitment to building upon the achievements of the outgoing board by fostering greater member engagement, enhancing opportunities for knowledge and experience sharing, expanding trade and investment, and deepening cooperation between the business communities of Bangladesh and Japan. The 21st AGM of JBCCI and the ceremony marking the new board’s assumption of office not only celebrated the achievements of the organization’s outgoing leadership but also heralded a new chapter focused on advancing fresh possibilities and initiatives within the realm of Bangladesh-Japan economic partnership.
Upon assuming office, the new board expressed its firm resolve to elevate business and investment cooperation between the two nations to a level that is more dynamic, effective, and mutually beneficial.
