JBCCI-JTI meeting held to improve investment environment

Business Desk:

The Board of Directors of Japan-Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce and Industry (JBCCI) held a courtesy call and exchange of views with senior officials of JT International Bangladesh Ltd. on Wednesday (15 April 2026).

Managing Director Dr. Oliver Kutz, Director Gintautas Dirgela and Corporate and Media Relations Lead Kazi Rubaiya Islam were present on behalf of JTI Bangladesh in the meeting.

On the other hand, JBCCI was represented by President Tareq Rafi Bhuiyan (June), Abu Zaman Md. Tariqul Islam, Director Mohammed Sohel and members of the secretariat.

The meeting highlighted the ongoing activities of JBCCI and discussed in detail the current business challenges of JTI, especially issues related to taxes, VAT and customs. In addition, views were exchanged on the ongoing energy crisis and energy-related challenges in Bangladesh and its impact on the business environment.

Both sides exchanged views on various issues of mutual interest and pledged to continue cooperation and constructive dialogue in the future.
