Japanese soldiers’ bodies recovered at Chittagong War Cemetery

From 17 to 28 November 2025, the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare (MHLW) of Japan and the Japan Association for the Rescue and Return of War Wounded Soldiers (JARRWC) completed excavation work at the Commonwealth War Graves Commission (CWGC) Cemetery in Chittagong. The work resulted in the recovery of the remains of Japanese soldiers killed during World War II.

Minister Takahashi of the Embassy of Japan was present at the Guard of Honour ceremony organized by the Bangladesh Army on 28 November.

The Embassy of Japan expresses its deep gratitude to the Bangladesh authorities, the CWGC and all other supporting organizations, who have fully cooperated in making this important work a success.
