Japanese Ambassador participates in the Liberation War Museum’s organization on the occasion of Hiroshima Day

The Liberation War Museum organized the ‘Hiroshima Day 2025’ commemoration program on Wednesday (August 6, 2025), where Japanese Ambassador to Bangladesh SAIDA Shinichi was present as the chief guest.

A special photography exhibition by the late photographer Nabajesh Ahmed was organized to convey the message of peace and the horror of Hiroshima. The exhibition was attended by the ambassador and guests. In addition, white paper cranes made by students in tribute to Sadako Sasaki were placed at the venue, which was a unique symbol of peace.

The program was attended by Mofidul Haque, Trustee and Member Secretary of the Liberation War Museum, Trustee Dr. Sarwar Ali and many other distinguished personalities and students.

Ambassador Saida Shinichi expressed his deep condolences to the martyrs of the student-led mass movement that took place a year ago. At the same time, he also paid tribute to those who died in the plane crash that occurred on July 21.

He said, “Japan is the only country that has experienced the atomic bomb in war. Therefore, it is our responsibility to inform future generations of the reality of Hiroshima and reaffirm our commitment to world peace.”

He particularly praised the participation of the students and the white paper crane bird they made as a symbol of peace. In the final part of his speech, the Ambassador expressed his hope that the friendship between Bangladesh and Japan will be further strengthened in the future and wished for a peaceful future.
