Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami has taken oath as newly elected members of parliament (MP). They took oath before Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) AMM Nasir Uddin at 12 noon on Tuesday (February 17).
However, there was uncertainty over the oath-taking of Jamaat on the issue of constitutional reform. The party’s Naib-e-Amir Dr. Syed Abdullah Muhammad Taher had said that no one from Jamaat would take oath as an MP if BNP did not take oath in the Constitutional Reform Council. Later, the newly elected members of the alliance held an emergency meeting at the Parliament building to decide on the matter. They decided on the oath-taking in the meeting.
