Islami Bank’s deposits are now 1 lakh 83 thousand crores

Turning challenges into opportunities, the deposits of Islami Bank have reached 1 lakh 83 thousand crores as of December 31, 2025. An increase of 22 thousand crores in one year. In addition, the deposits of Islamic Bank’s agent banking are now 22 thousand crores; which is 5 thousand crores more than last year. Islami Bank has been at the top for 18 years in collecting remittances with the trust and love of expatriates.

In the last one year, remittances have come through this bank 76,000 crores. In 2025, Islami Bank did import and export trade of 59,614 crores and 31,504 crores respectively. The current number of customers of Islami Bank, a symbol of trust and reliability, is 3 crores; which has increased by 50 lakhs in the last one year. Islami Bank currently serves its customers through a large network of 400 branches, 271 sub-branches, 2788 agent outlets and 3040 ATM/CRM booths.

This information was disclosed at the 2-day Business Development Conference of Islami Bank Bangladesh PLC that began at the Pan Pacific Sonargaon Hotel in Dhaka on Saturday (10 January 2026). The Chairman of the Board of Directors of the bank, Prof. Dr. M. Zubaidur Rahman, inaugurated the conference as the chief guest. The program was presided over by the Managing Director of the bank, Md. Omar Farooq Khan.

The Chairman of the Executive Committee of the bank, Md. Khurshid Wahab, Chairman of the Audit Committee, Md. Abdus Salam, FCA, FCS, Chairman of the Risk Management Committee, Prof. Dr. M. Masud Rahman and Independent Director, Md. Abdul Jalil spoke as special guests. In addition, Additional Managing Director Md. Altaf Hussain, Engineer Mohammad Jamal Uddin Majumder and Dr. M. Kamal Uddin Jasim spoke. Senior executives of the head office, zone heads of 16 zones and managers of 400 branches participated in the conference.

In his speech as the chief guest, the chairman of the bank, Professor Dr. M. Zubaidur Rahman, said that Islami Bank is the largest bank in the country. The country’s economy depends on this bank and if this bank is damaged, the country’s economy will be damaged. All efforts must be made to bring this bank back to its previous state. He said that this bank has turned around in the new Bangladesh and it must be taken further. For this, we all have to work together with new ideas. We have to review the progress regularly. He advised everyone to work with the utmost professionalism to continue the people’s trust and confidence in Islami Bank.

In his speech as the chairman, the managing director of the bank, Md. Omar Faruk Khan, said that the contribution of Islami Bank to the economic development of the country is unforgettable. The changed banking situation after the July Revolution has restored confidence among our customers. In 2025, Islami Bank, after overcoming various challenges, collected the highest deposits in the country’s banking sector and made a significant contribution to increasing foreign exchange reserves by attracting the highest remittances. He said, we are working to build a strong, Sharia-compliant, technology-based, modern Islamic bank that nurtures a culture of compliance. Islami Bank is making a significant contribution to sustainable economic development as a leading institution in the country’s banking sector. He called for ensuring the best use of technology in all services of the bank, taking the slogan ‘Innovation and Digitization Driving Transformation’ forward.
