Information Ministry orders to stop broadcasting of IPL in Bangladesh

The government has ordered to stop broadcasting of all games and events of the Indian Premier League (IPL) after Bangladeshi star cricketer Mustafizur Rahman was dropped from the Kolkata Knight Riders team.

This information was given in a notification by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting on Monday (January 5). It was signed by the Ministry’s Assistant Secretary Feroz Khan.

The notification said that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has ordered to drop Bangladesh player Mustafizur Rahman from KKR in the IPL game starting from March 26, 2026. No logical reason is known for this decision of the Indian board, and it has hurt, shocked and angered the people of Bangladesh.

In this situation, it has been requested to stop broadcasting of all games and events of the IPL until further orders. This order has been issued with the approval of the appropriate authorities and in the public interest.
