“ICT Olympiad Bangladesh” Season-2 Final Round has been held

The final round of “ICT Olympiad Bangladesh”, organized to inspire the new generation in the country’s technology sector, was held on 24 May 2025, at the ‘Bangladesh University of Business and Technology (BUBT)’ campus in Dhaka. 290 contestants selected from 10,000 students selected from different districts across the country participated in the final round. Written, practical and viva exams were held in this day-long event.

Students from school, college and university levels participated in this competition organized by ICT Olympiad Bangladesh. The main objective of this competition is to make the young society skilled in information technology, increase problem-solving capacity, awaken innovative power and popularize information technology education.

Honorable Vice-Chancellor of BUBT University, Professor Dr. ABM Shakhawat Ali, who highlighted the importance of ICT among the youth and discussed various ICT development projects undertaken by the government. ICT Olympiad Bangladesh advisors and jury board members, various government and private organizations, educational institutions, technology entrepreneurs and industry experts were present as special guests.

At the end of the final round, the 39 winning contestants were awarded cash, health insurance, laptops, tablets, domestic and international travel, trophies, medals and certificates. At the same time, it was announced that they will be prepared to represent Bangladesh in international competitions.

ICT Olympiad Bangladesh founder Mohammad Shahriar Khan said, “Our goal is to prepare the young generation to build a technology-based future. This Olympiad is not just a competition, it is a platform that helps develop the skills of the youth.”

Senior Vice Chairman Md. Abdur Rahman Nipu said, “We believe that the youth of Bangladesh have immense potential. They can take the country forward by acquiring skills in information technology.”

Golam Sarwar, co-convener of the program, said, “The ICT Olympiad is not just a competition, it is a mission—through which we are working to develop the technology skills, innovative power and leadership qualities of the youth. They will have to come forward to build the future of Bangladesh, and we are helping to pave the way.”

A team of ICT educators and technology experts, led by Chief Technology Officer Md. Shahinur Islam, selected 39 winners through a day-long online, offline and live viva exams.

The list of winners was finalized under the leadership of University of Information Technology and Sciences (UITS) IQAC Director and Chief Jury Board Member Engineer Md. Safayet Hossain, Space Innovation Camp President and NASA Space Apps Challenge BD Advisor Mr. Ariful Hasan Apu, and Dhaka International University Computer Science and Engineering Department Chairman Md. Tahjibul Islam. In addition, K. Md. Shamim Akhtar Shimul was awarded as the Best Convener and ICT Teacher A.K.M. Ahsan Farid as the Best ICT Instructor and Noreen Haque Riddi, CEO of Darkak were awarded the Honor Index Award.

The final list of winners was officially handed over to Mr. Aman Suleman, Honorary Advisor of ICT Olympiad Bangladesh, eminent educationist and founder of English Olympiad Founder, and Mr. Mujtaba Sattar Anant, CEO of Quantum Safe Bangladesh and leading figure in the technology sector. After this ceremony, in a historic moment, the Mentor Convener, eminent experts from the industry, members of the organizing committee and special guests came on stage. In their combined presence, Season-3 of this biggest youth Olympiad in the IT sector of Bangladesh was inaugurated. Everyone present in the opening session was thanked and registration for the next Season-3 was called for.

The closing session of the event took place in a festive atmosphere. A joint photo session was held with the winning contestants, special guests, jury board members, partners and organizers. Then began a captivating cultural performance, where the young and popular artist Zahid Antu and his band team presented patriotic and modern songs. All these arrangements captivated all the audience and listeners present and made the event memorable.
