Ibsen Project Launched at Dhaka University with Support from Norwegian Embassy in Dhaka

The Royal Norwegian Embassy in Dhaka has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Department of Theatre and Performance Studies at Dhaka University to support the ‘MA Ibsen’s Peer Gynt Project: Research-Based Theatre Production and Intercultural Exchange’.

Through this initiative, the works of Henrik Ibsen will be reimagined for the 21st century, highlighting Bangladesh’s local aesthetics, everyday human experiences, and ethical questions relevant to contemporary society.

Ibsen’s plays have long served as a cultural bridge between Norway and Bangladesh. Since its establishment in 1994 with support from Norway, the Department of Theatre and Performance Studies at Dhaka University has maintained a valuable academic and artistic engagement with Ibsen’s dramaturgy.
