Home Affairs Advisor Lieutenant General Md. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury (Retd.) attended the funeral of firefighter Md. Swanur Zaman Nayan (24), who died in hospital after being seriously injured when he was hit by a truck while on duty in a fire accident at the Secretariat.
The advisor attended the Namaz-e-Janaza held at the Fire Service and Civil Defense Headquarters in Phulbaria, the capital, on Thursday (December 26, 2024) afternoon.

Before the funeral ceremony, the Home Affairs Advisor paid tribute to the coffin of martyr Md. Swanur Zaman Nayan. During the funeral, a smart group of firefighters provided a guard of honor. Then, a brief biography of the deceased firefighter was read out on behalf of the Fire Service and Civil Defense. The funeral prayer and prayers were led by Muhaddis Kazi Sharif Ullah, a religious teacher of the Fire Service and Civil Defense.
The funeral prayer was attended by, among others, Special Assistant to the Principal Advisor on Home Affairs (State Minister rank) Md. Khoda Baksh Chowdhury, Director General of the Fire Service and Civil Defense Directorate Brigadier General Muhammad Zahed Kamal, and officials and employees of various levels of the ministry and the department.
