Health Minister Sardar Md. Sakhawat Hossain visited several health complexes including Satkhira Medical College Hospital.
On Sunday (July 26, 2026), the Health Minister visited Tala Upazila Health Complex in Satkhira district. Later, he visited Satkhira Medical College Hospital. There, he visited the hospital’s kitchen, washrooms and various wards and spoke to the patients. After that, he visited Satkhira Sadar Hospital.
Talking to reporters after the visit, the Health Minister said that there are fewer doctors than patients in present-day Bangladesh. In the last 17 years, the dictatorship has not appointed doctors, has not paid attention to any aspect.
The Minister said that to ensure medical services, the government is going to upgrade 31-bed and 50-bed hospitals to 101 beds. It has been decided to increase the number of beds in kidney dialysis centers in every medical college hospital and district hospital and to establish them where such services are not available.
The Health Minister also said that physiotherapy facilities and modern pathology services are being introduced in every Upazila Health Complex. Later, 10-bed kidney dialysis facilities will be provided in those hospitals as well. Besides, e-health cards will be issued very soon.
